Calent Health

Specialty psychiatry in California

Specialty psychiatry for complex lives.

We treat the brain as biology and the person as awake. Careful evaluation, medication and therapy, held together by a plan that makes sense to you.

Visits are by secure video, for adults in California.

You may be here because…

  • You have tried several medications, and no one has explained why they helped, stopped helping or never worked.
  • You were told it is “just anxiety,” but your story feels bigger than that.
  • Pregnancy, a new baby or perimenopause changed your mood, your sleep and your sense of yourself.
  • You learned about your ADHD or autism as an adult, and you want care that fits.

If your story has too many parts for a short visit, you are not the problem. The visit may be too small.

A diagnosis is a starting point. A formulation is the work.

A diagnosis

Names a pattern. It helps us choose treatments, and it gives you and other clinicians a shared word for what is going on.

A formulation

Asks how the pattern came to be and what keeps it going: your biology, your history, your body, your sleep, your stresses and what matters to you. It is the reasoning behind your plan, written down.

What we treat

We see adults with many kinds of mental health concerns. These are the areas we know best.

  • Treatment-resistant depression

Depression that has not lifted after two or more treatments. We look again at the whole picture before changing course.

  • Pregnancy and after birth

Mood, anxiety and sleep during pregnancy and the year after, including medication choices while pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Perimenopause

Mood changes, sleep problems and brain fog in the years around menopause, with hormones and mood treated together.

  • Adult ADHD and autism

Assessment and care for adults who were never diagnosed as children, or who were diagnosed and never helped.

  • Bipolar spectrum

Highs, lows and mixed states, including depression that may be part of a bipolar pattern.

  • Careful tapering

Slow, planned reduction of psychiatric medication when that is the goal, with a plan for what to watch for.

  • Men's mental health

Depression that shows up as anger, poor sleep, drinking or pulling away, and the health questions that come with it.

  • TMS

    Coming soon

A non-drug treatment for depression. Our portable device is not here yet. We plan to offer TMS at Olida offices.

Care with receipts

Measurement should support care, not replace it.

  • Measures you can see

Short check-ins at your visits show both of us whether treatment is working, so we are not guessing.

  • A plan in writing

What we recommend, why we recommend it, and what would make us change course.

  • Your history counts

What helped, what did not, and at what dose. Past treatment is evidence, and we use it.

  • Reasons you can check

When we suggest a treatment, we explain the evidence behind it in plain words.

What it costs

We are self-pay for now, and our prices are posted. A first evaluation starts at $375. Before your first visit, you get a written Good Faith Estimate of what care is likely to cost.

We do not bill insurance yet. We can give you a superbill, a detailed receipt you can send to your insurance plan to ask for out-of-network reimbursement. We are working toward accepting insurance.
